Tonight is the first night of Ramadan, an Islamic holy month that focuses on prayer, reflection and abstinence. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from all food and drink from sunrise to sunset. It is the most sacred time of year for Muslims and it signifies the month that they believe the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammed.
As Christians, we are called to pray for unbelievers in all parts of the world and in all religions. 1 Timothy 2:4 says that God “wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” If God cares about people’s salvation, we should do, and one way we can live out that care is through prayer.
This year, Ramadan overlaps with Lent, which is a somewhat rare occurance. Consider incorporating prayers for the Muslim world in your Lenten prayers and practices. Here are some things you can pray for.
Ways to Pray for Muslims
- Pray that God would miraculously reveal Himself to Muslims who are in unreached people groups and have no Christians around them to share the Gospel.
- Pray that Muslims all over the world would have their eyes open to the Truth of the Gospel and their hearts open to the love of Jesus.
- Pray for peace between Muslim nations and other countries.
- Pray for protection for Muslims against extremist governments.
Ways to Pray for Christians in the Muslim World
- Pray for protection for Christians who face daily persecution for their faith.
- Pray that God would provide community for Christians who have been ostracized from their families and friends.
- Pray that Christians would be able to find online resources to strenghten their faith and their knowledge of scriptures.
